Just for Kids

If you’re looking for a photoshoot specifically for your children, this is the place to start!

Children’s sessions are a little different from other types of photoshoots. Because children are minors, there are additional considerations when it comes to sharing their images online. My standard pricing is lower when all images from a session are available to be shared online. For children’s sessions, however, this policy can be adjusted at the parent or legal guardian’s request. A Child-Led Experience

As a mother of three—one who is now 22 and two teenagers, ages 13 and 14—I understand that working with children can come with its own unique challenges!

When I photograph children, I like to let them take the lead whenever possible. Rather than relying heavily on traditional posing, I often encourage natural interactions, movement, and genuine expressions. My goal is to capture your child’s personality and let them be themselves in front of the camera.

That said, if you have specific posing ideas or a particular vision in mind, we can absolutely incorporate those into the session.

Because every child is different, I will ask parents or guardians to complete a short questionnaire before the session. This helps me learn about your child’s personality, interests, comfort level, and what may help them feel relaxed and confident during their photoshoot.

A Little Motivation

I also like to ask parents ahead of time whether they are comfortable with me bringing a small gift for their child as a “prize” for listening, participating, and doing a great job during the session.

This will only be done with written permission from the parent or legal guardian. If you prefer that I do not offer a gift, there is absolutely no problem.

Important Considerations for Separated or Divorced Parents

If a child’s parents are separated or divorced, the parent or legal guardian who has the child in their care on the day of the session must be the person who signs the required model release and/or contract, as applicable.

I strongly recommend that both parents are aware of the photoshoot, especially if the images may be shared publicly or online. However, I can only work with and follow the direction of the parent or legal guardian who is present and responsible for the child at the session.

If possible, please maintain communication with the other parent regarding the session and how the images may be used. I cannot be responsible for disagreements or reactions between parents regarding the photoshoot or the resulting images.

Timing Matters!

Please keep your child’s normal schedule in mind when choosing a session time. Whenever possible, try to plan around nap times, mealtimes, and those moments when your little one may be getting tired or cranky.

Many children tend to do well during the daytime, particularly in the early morning or around sunset, but you know your child best!

We can discuss your child’s routine, personality, and the best timing for their session during your consultation. My goal is to create an experience that feels comfortable, relaxed, and enjoyable for both you and your child.

Most importantly, let them be themselves! The best images often happen when children are comfortable, having fun, and simply being who they are.
